He continued his football career and education at East Central University while earning his Master's in Sports Administration. Coach Gaskamp on Coach Peters: "Coach Peters was the first hire I made on staff. I felt it was extremely important to hire a young, energetic coach to work with the offensive skill players, and his track record as a player and the beginning stages of his career prove he has what it takes. It gives him instant credibility with the guys. This is a great opportunity for him to now step into the offensive coordinator's role and start to establish himself in this profession. I look forward to working with Lucas for many years to come. Coach Peters will recruit the state of Oklahoma, San Antonio, and the Texas and Arizona Junior Colleges."
