McDonald played this past spring for the PIFL Louisiana Swashbucklers and played college Football at Angelo State University from 2009-2010 and was named an honorable mention All-Lone Star Conference South Division his senior year. He transferred to Angelo State after starting for two years as a defensive end at Navarro College. Before Navarro, he was an all-district performer at Rockwall (Texas) High School. Coach Gaskamp on Coach McDonald: "The first thing I can tell you about Coach McDonald is what an outstanding person on and off the field he is. Devin not only was one of my favorite players to be around as a coach, but he also did a great job last year for the coaching staff at ASU. He understands the fundamentals and techniques of the defensive line position, and the kids will relate to him and respect him." Coach McDonald will recruit the state of Oklahoma and Houston.
