Ensembles at OPSU are a great way for students and community members to get involved in music-making. All ensembles are classes, and interested students should register for the appropriate course in the University schedule prior to the beginning of the semester. All ensembles are open to any interested OPSU student, but students without high school instrumental or vocal experience should consider taking private or class lessons in order to come up to speed. Some ensembles are limited by audition, but any OPSU student or community member is encouraged to try out!

Scholarships are available for all students enrolled in an ensemble, and students should speak with the ensemble director for more information. For full scholarship consideration, incoming freshmen and transfer students should give a scholarship audition, either on one of the Music Department’s audition dates or by appointment. Additionally, students should carefully read the descriptions of the various scholarships available through the Panhandle State Foundation, several of which are offered only to music students, and adhere to the March 1 application deadline.

OPSU community members with two or more years of vocal or instrumental experience are welcome to participate in OPSU ensembles, but are expected to maintain the same level of commitment to attendance, practice and conduct as student ensemble members.
