Description: Chamber Singers provides vocalists with additional performance experience in a select ensemble limited to 16 members. Repertoire includes music drawn from all eras and styles, with emphasis on the a cappella vocal tradition of the 16th through 20th centuries. Chamber Singers is a highly active ensemble that gives at least four performances every semester, with frequent off-campus and out-of-class obligations including recruiting visits to area schools and churches and a brief tour during the Spring semester. Members should be prepared to attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances and take time to prepare their music outside of rehearsal, and will be required to purchase appropriate concert dress. Chamber Singers represents OPSU at Commencement in the May, and members enrolled during Spring Semester should plan their travel schedules accordingly. Chamber Singers is an auditioned group, and while all students and community members are welcome to audition, places may not be available for all interested singers. Auditions are held at the beginning of Fall Semester for the year, and selected members are expected to commit to sing with the group for a full academic year.
