Appel said, "I am very pleased with the signing of these young men. Not only did we sign great kids, we signed players that come from some of the best high schools in New Mexico who compete against each other every year for the state title. My goal has been to build a program the right way, from every aspect. What we have brought in have been students not only successful on the diamond, but off the field and in the classroom. In my opinion, for us to achieve what we want to at OPSU, we need to bring in team members who not only buy into the program, but also those who are ready to come in here and change this program for the better, and that takes great discipline. I'm excited with the guys we have currently in this program and the guys that will be joining us next fall. We won’t stop here—we plan on continuing to attract some of the region's better kids as our program grows."
