Aggie Volleyball Drops Season's Final Match —By Scott Puryear of OPSU Sports on 11/07/2011 Goodwell, Okla.—The Jets of Newman University were in the Oklahoma Panhandle State gym on Saturday for Heartland Conference volleyball action. It was the final match of the season for the Aggies. Prior to the match, the two Aggie seniors (Brianna Drayer and Brittany Sciacca) were recognized for their hard work and contributions to the OPSU program.
The first set of the match was hotly contested all the way, and at the end, the Jets had a 25-20 set win. The second set saw some exciting action and great athleticism on both sides of the net, and in the late going the Jets were ahead 19-16, and soon went on to get the 25-18 set win.
The action continued into the third set and a determined OPSU squad jumped out to an early 4-1 advantage, but the Jets fought back and soon, the score was tied 7-7. A bit later it was 10-10, but a strong OPSU run put them ahead at 16-12. Soon, a good run by the Jets saw them force a tie at 18-18. In the end, the Jets fought back to get the 25-22 set win and the 3-0 match victory. The Jets boosted their season record to 5-22 while the Aggies finished the season at 3-30.
