Cross Selected for All-Region Team—By Aggie Sports on 05/08/2012 Goodwell, Okla.—Oklahoma Panhandle State Univ.'s Julie Cross is the first Aggie to be selected for the Daktronics Softball South Central Region team, a post-season honor that began in 2007.
Cross earned a spot on the second team in the outfield after making Heartland Conference history this year by posting a .529 on-base percentage, the highest ever. She also earned the second-highest season batting average at .476. The junior from Pearland, Texas was named to the All-Heartland first team as an outfield player and finished in the top five in the conference in batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored, hits and stolen bases. She and Emily Brittain of St. Mary's are the only two Heartland Conference players to earn a place on the regional team.
Head coach Rachel Burleson said, "Julie really came into her own this year, and she has been a fun kid to watch grow up and improve her game!"
