Aggie Volleyball Getting Ready for 2012 Season

By Laura Nelson on 08/03/2012 Goodwell, Okla.—In just over two weeks, the women of the Oklahoma Panhandle State Univ. volleyball team begin team practice to get ready for their first games scheduled for Aug. 31 and Sep. 1 at home in the Aggies Challenge tournament.

Fourth year head coach Mike Stephens brings back five players including seniors Alexandra Schmitt and Michaela Redding plus three sophomores, Jessica DeBaun, Terra Madden, and Shaina Eddings. He has also added some experience to the team with transfers. Sarah Koster is a 5'11" sophomore joining the team from Western New Mexico; Nora Pulaski is a 5'5" junior from Edmonds Community College in Lynnewood, Wash.; and Lexi McAdam is a 5'10" junior from Trinidad (Colo.) State Junior College.

Newcomers include Kayla Schwartz from Flagler, Colo.; Samantha McCay from La Veta, Colo.; Makayla Barrett from Thrall, Texas; Erica Skipper from San Antonio; Natalya Weber from Sheridan Lake, Colo.; and Joni Lampley from Grady, N.M.

The Aggies are hosting seven teams for the Aggies Challenge including Bacone College, Fort Hays State Univ., Fort Lewis College, Southwestern Christian Univ., Southern Arkansas Univ., Univ. of the Southwest, and Colorado Christian Univ. The Aggie women play two matches Fri., Aug. 31 in Oscar Williams Field House. The first serve is set for 11 a.m. against Southwestern Christian and the second game against Fort Lewis is scheduled for 3 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 1, they play the Univ. of the Southwest at 11 a.m. and Bacone at 3 p.m.
