Calling all Runners!

—By Laura Nelson on 09/30/2012 Goodwell, Okla.—For the first time in school history, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Cross Country team and head coach Victor Esparza are hosting a 5k meet in Guymon on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Even though it is an official college meet, the team invites anyone interested to enter the race. Runners will start at the Texas County Activity Center and follow the marked course through Thompson Park, across the road around part of the Frisbee golf course, and back to the park and around Sunset Lake. The women's race begins at 9 a.m. and the men's race will begin at approximately 9:45 a.m.

To sign up, contact Esparza in his office at 580.349.1343, on his cell phone at 505.603.2963, or via email at coachvic@opsu.edu. He said he looks forward to hosting the meet and hopes community members will come out and support the team. There is no entry fee, but donations to the cross country program will be accepted.
