Men's Golf Wins Fourth in Kansas Tournament

—By Laura Nelson on 10/17/2012 Salina, Kan.—The Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's golf team improved their fall season scores tremendously at the Swede Fall Invitational hosted by Bethany College in Salina earlier this week.

Trent Combs was once again the top finishing Aggie with 147 strokes over the 2-round tournament and earned fifth place. The teams played round one on the par-70, 6,522-yard Salina Municipal Golf Course and Great Life Golf, par-71, 6,031-yard was the round two course.

Teammates Taylor Campbell, Reagan Karlin, and Tyler Harper also stepped up their games, earning the OPSU team fourth place overall out of the nine teams playing. Campbell finished tied for 12th with 155 strokes and Karlin was right behind with 157 with a 17th place tie. In fact, the team's round two combined score of 314 was second best behind the host team's 283.

The men play their final fall rounds Oct. 22 at the Southwestern College Tournament at the Winfield, Kan. country club course.
