**For Immediate Release** Teamwork Goes Beyond the Court for OPSU Volleyball —By Laura Nelson on 11/21/2012 Goodwell, Okla.—This fall, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University volleyball team has been one of the most active off the court, raising funds for cancer awareness and taking time to read to local school children on Halloween.

The women raised over $550 for the Guardians of the Ribbon, a local non-profit group that supports all types of cancer relief efforts by selling cookies they baked and iced and also sold T-shirts. In addition to their rigorous athletic schedule and community service, the team also takes scholarship seriously. For the third consecutive year, the women earned the prestigious American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic award for the 2011-2012 school year. In order to qualify for the award, the team must earn a minimum of a cumulative 3.30 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale. Congratulations and thanks for making OPSU proud!
