Softball Falls to Northeastern and Emporia State By Laura Nelson on 03/02/2013 Wichita Falls, Texas—The Oklahoma Panhandle State University softball team continued play in the Midwestern State University Invitational on Saturday, playing Northeastern for the second time and then took on Emporia State University.
The Aggies still had trouble getting their bats going in Saturday's games, losing to Northeastern 12-3 and 13-1 to Emporia. In the first game against Northeastern, Kari Pitts had two hits for two at-bats and two RBIs while Emily Vasquez had two hits for three at-bats and one RBI. Losing pitcher Talena Tippett gave up eight hits and struck out three in three innings of work. Reliever Kayla Pollard scattered four hits and struck out two in one and one-third innings.
Ranked no. 13 in the nation, the Emporia State Hornets struck quickly against OPSU, plating eight runs in the first three innings. OPSU's solo run was earned in the third, and then Emporia went on to score five more runs in the fourth and fifth. Brandi Heath had one hit and one RBI for the Aggies. Presjel Dai'Re was given the loss, scattering four hits and giving up three runs.
