Christopher McKiggan to Perform Piano Concert at OPSU Released by OPSU Campus Communications on 04/10/2014 Goodwell, Okla. — Pianist, Christopher McKiggan, will perform a piano concert in Centennial Theatre located in Hughes Strong Hall on the OPSU campus, Wednesday, April 16 at 8 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the OPSU Cultural Entertainment Committee and admission is free.
McKiggan won a top prize as a laureate and finalist at the prestigious 12th UNISA International Piano Competition (WFIMC) in 2012. He has won numerous other awards including the gold medal in the Seattle International Piano Competition, second prize in the solo division and third prize in the senior concerto division at the Kingsville International Music competition, first prize in the Bradshaw and Buono International piano competition and he was a finalist in the World International piano competition. McKiggan will be releasing a solo CD titled "Paganimania" in the fall of 2014.
McKiggan has been studying piano since age six. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Master's degree from Rice University where he is currently a candidate for Doctoral of Musical Arts Piano Performance.
