Former Panhandle State Instructor Dr. Chi-Kit Lam Back to Perform

Goodwell, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Cultural Entertainment Committee invites you to attend the 2017-2018 Asia America Tour Piano Recital featuring Dr. Chi-Kit Lam in Centennial Theatre in Hughes Strong Hall on campus. This free event is set for February 25th at 7 p.m.

Dr. Chi-Kit Lam is a versatile concert pianist, has taught at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University and University of Kansas, and is actively performing in many places. He was invited to perform in the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the U.S. Department of State (Washington, D.C.), Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts (Kansas City, MO), Hong Kong Culture Centre, Hong Kong City Hall, etc. Dr. Lam was awarded the second prize at the International Young Artist Piano Competition, Washington, D.C. in 2014, and second prize in the Eighth Annual Hays Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, where he made his orchestra debut playing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 under the baton of conductor Benjamin Cline. Dr. Lam was one of the finalists of the Lennox Young Artist Competition 2013, the first prize winner of Naftzger Young Artist Competition 2012, and received third prize at the Fourth Asian Youth Music Competition (Hong Kong). He was twice the scholarship recipient from the Kansas City Musical Club, was awarded Gladys Casford Memorial Scholarship, Great Eagle Scholarship, Grantham Scholarship, Yamaha Scholarship, and more. Dr. Lam is also an active music educator and performer of chamber music.

During the 2017-18 season, Dr. Lam tours to different countries in the Europe, America, and Asia. He will participate in various music festivals and performances at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia, West Texas A&M University, Amarillo College, Oklahoman Panhandle State University, and will perform and give masterclasses in universities at Hainan, Zhejiang, and Guangdong of China.

Dr. Chi-Kit Lam is a Hong Kong pianist, received his Doctor in Musical Arts at the University of Kansas, studied piano with Dr. Jack Winerock. He received his early musical training from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, under the tutelage of pianist Ling Hui. Dr. Lam has played in numerous masterclasses, conducted by Jerome Rose, Joyce Yang, Jon Kimora Parker, Stephen Savage, Nina Tichman, Magdalena Baczewska, Steven Mayer, Michael Oelbaum, Matei Varga, and Eduard Zilberkant.
