Higgins, Heathington Selected to 2018 Sooner Athletic Conference All-Academic Golf Team

on 06/14/2018

Goodwell, Okla.— On Wednesday, June 13, the Sooner Athletic Conference released its 2018 All-Academic Team for men's and women's golf. Oklahoma Panhandle State boasts two qualifiers making the list; sophomore Rylee Higgins of the women's team and junior Lucas Heathington of the men's.

Head Golf Coach Dewayne Mauldin is pleased to have coached both these young athletes, as they are not only strong competitors on the green, but also serve as excellent examples of student athlete success in the classroom.

In order to be eligible for the SAC All-Academic Conference teams, students must maintain a minimum 3.25 grade point average during the previous two semesters and be regular participants for their respective teams.

The 2018 SAC awards are presented by Cypress Risk Management, based in Omaha, Neb. The insurance agency specializes in providing customized solutions for collegiate student health and athletic accident insurance. Cypress currently insures over 500,000 students nationwide and is already engaged with several other NAIA conferences in similar type of partnership.

A complete listing of SAC All-Academic teams may be found online at soonerathletic.org.
