Goodwell, Okla. — Saturday, November 3rd marked a special day in the history of Oklahoma Panhandle State University and Aggie Athletics, as a dedication celebration was held for the new Anchor D Stadium. Over a year in the making, the new turf and stadium upgrade project has brought an invigorated level of excitement and pride to campus.

Representatives from Anchor D Bank, the lead and naming sponsor for the project, were on hand for the half time dedication. Additionally, the Goodwell Public School Board and athletic administration, Texas County Commissioner Jack Strain, representatives from Oklahoma A&M Board purchasing, Panhandle State Physical Plant, Vice President of Outreach Dr. Ryan Blanton, and Panhandle State President Dr. Tim Faltyn were also on hand to be recognized during the celebration.

“Panhandle State has been blessed to have such great partners to make this stadium a realty,” said Faltyn. “Today was a celebration of that partnership and all the great things we will do in the future.”

The Anchor D Stadium improvement include a new artificial turf field, marked for both collegiate football and high school football, as well as eight-man football and soccer.

In addition to the field, a new video scoreboard was installed, along with new landscaping around the stadium. Additional improvements will continue throughout the fall and spring, and will be debuted next season, along with the new men’s and women’s Aggie soccer teams.

“This project honors the legacy of our athletic programs, but more importantly, it allows us to grow our programs,” says Faltyn. “It allows us to bring in top ranked recruits, and to start new programs, like soccer, that will be key to our growth.”

The partnership also has benefits to Goodwell Public Schools, who used the field this season and future seasons for their home football games.
