**For Immediate Release** More Honors for Two OPSU Football Players By Scott Puryear of OPSU Sports on 01/13/2010 Goodwell, Okla. — Several Oklahoma Panhandle State football players from last fall’s exciting team have received post-season honors and chalk up more for Doug Williams and Darryl Brister. Both student athletes have been named to the second team of Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-Region Team.
Brister, a sophomore from New Orleans, was honored as an All-Purpose back. In 2009, he accounted for 1789 all-purpose yards (1,163 rushing, 227 receiving, and 407 on punt and kickoff returns), averaging over 162 yards per game. He also scored 14 touchdowns and ranked 13th nationally in all-purpose yards and 17th nationally in rushing. Brister stands 5’9” and weighs in at a rock solid 200 pounds.
Williams (wide receiver from Mountain View, California) hit it big in his first year in an Aggie uniform. The junior snared 74 receptions for 1,175 yards and 17 touchdowns and ranked 6th nationally in receiving yards. At 6’5” and 200 pounds, Williams has the speed, size, agility, and the hands to make a very long day for opposing defenders.
