**For Immediate Release** Student Athletes of the Week By Scott Puryear of OPSU Sports on 02/03/2010 Goodwell, Okla. — During the school year, Oklahoma Panhandle State University recognizes Student Athletes of the Week – an honor based upon citizenship, leadership, academic accomplishment, and athletic performance.

Recognized this week are two dedicated young people, as well as fine athletes – Kevin Geofroy and Deannah McChesney.

Deannah McChesney is a forward on the Lady Aggie basketball team, but is out this season with an injury. She is, however, doing her part for OPSU athletics, working as a radio commentator for the basketball games. One of the nicest young people on the campus (and also the school’s Fall Homecoming Queen), McChesney is a fine performer in the classroom, pursuing a degree in Political Science. She is a sophomore from Alvin, Texas.

Kevin Geofroy, though only a sophomore, has been a starter at guard in each of his two years on the Aggie basketball team. Standing 6’1” and weighing 170 pounds, Geofroy is an exceptional athlete and one of the “young guns” on this year’s squad. Coming from Orlando, Florida to OPSU, Geofroy is a soft spoken young man who also does a good job in his studies in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER).

Geofroy and McChesney are two of the many examples of the fine young people participating in college athletics as they represent Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
