**For Immediate Release** Lady Aggies Fall to UIW, 56-43 By Scott Puryear of OPSU Sports on 02/05/2010 San Antonio, Texas — The Oklahoma Panhandle State women’s basketball team lost 56-43 to the Cardinals of the University of the Incarnate Word here on Thursday night. With their win, the Cardinals stayed atop the Heartland Conference with a 9-1 league record (15-6 overall) while the Lady Aggies fell to 3-6 in the conference and 6-14 for the season.

It was a rematch from the December 19 game when the Cardinals topped the Lady Aggies 66-48 in Goodwell.

The first half of Thursday’s game was a close one with the Cardinals going to the halftime break ahead by just three points (25-22). However, the Cardinals outscored the Lady Aggies 31-21 in the second half.

Nia Torru of the Cardinals was the game’s leading scorer with 12.

Camille Washington scored nine for OPSU, Lauren Cherry had eight, while Kariz Bioni and Callie Schafer each scored six. Cherry was OPSU’s top rebounder with eight.

The Lady Aggies will stay in San Antonio and go against St. Mary’s on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
