Paramedic to RN Track Now Available at OPSU

Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s nursing program, through Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City, now offers advanced standing admission to qualifying paramedics. The new program allows paramedics to use the knowledge and experience they possess to advance in the health care industry.In order to receive advanced standing and be admitted to the nursing program, a paramedic must be a graduate of a state or national Registry-approved Paramedic program, hold a current license and a National Registry Card. The student must also complete all required prerequisite courses and receive a passing score on written examinations. Successful completion of the course of study qualifies the graduate to take the examination for registered nursing licensure. The course of study includes classroom and laboratory instruction on campus and supervised clinical experience in affiliate health agencies.Enrollment is now open for the required transition course, which begins on August 22, 2005. Enrollment is also open for summer and fall general education courses at OPSU.
