Final Results for 56th Annual Beef Bull Performance Test
Sale Set for Monday, February 25, 2008

Goodwell, Okla. — The beef bulls on the 56th Annual OPSU Performance Test at Goodwell, Okla. were weighed off test Saturday, February 2, 2008. The bulls were also scanned for rib and rump fat, ribeye area and intramuscular fat. In preparation for the February 25 sale, the bulls will be measured for frame score, scrotal circumference and evaluated on semen quality.

The bulls ended up with an average daily gain (ADG) of 4.22 lbs. and a weight-per-day-of-age (WDA) of 3.32 lbs. Seventy of these bulls will sell in the 56th Annual Bull Sale Monday, February 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm CST, Goodwell, OK. The sale will be held in the England Activity Center, University Farm.

The top gaining bull on test was an Angus junior-age bull consigned by Larry Weinkauf, Orlando, OK. This bull, a son of GAR 1407 New Design 9594, gained 6.05 lbs. per day with a WDA of 4.42 lbs. The second place junior bull, with an ADG of 5.22 lbs, was another Weinkauf bull, sired by Circle S 598 Bando 1037. Phil Light, Turpin, OK had the third and fourth place juniors with ADG’s of 5.14 and 4.95 lbs., respectively. These two bulls are sons of Morgans Direction 111 9901.

The junior pen honors goes to Larry Weinkauf’s pen of three Angus with an ADG of 5.23 lbs. Phil Light’s pen of three Angus was second at 4.70 lbs. per day and another Weinkauf pen was third at 4.69 lbs.

In the senior-age bull division, B&M Angus, Edmond, OK had the first and second place bulls with ADG’s of 5.65 and 5.28 lbs., respectively. The top bull was sired by Hyline Right Time 338 and the second ranked bull was sired by Spur Success 2801. OPSU’s Hereford bull, Test No. 3-2, was the third place senior with an ADG of 5.11 lbs. The bull is a son of CJH Advance 312.

The senior pen honors goes to B&M Angus with an ADG of 4.93 lbs. Boyd on Target 1083, Spur Success 2801 and Rito 2VI of 2536 1407 are sires represented in this pen. B&M Angus also had the second and third ranked senior pens with ADG’s of 4.57 and 4.36 lbs., respectively.
