Heating Up the Winter at OPSU!
- released by OPSU Campus Communications on 02-21-07

Goodwell, Okla. – Several activities scheduled on the campus of Oklahoma Panhandle State University offer plenty of family fun during the winter months.

On Thursday, February 22 and Saturday, February 24, the heat is on in Oscar Williams Fieldhouse with Aggie and Lady Aggie basketball. Both games begin with the women’s tip-off at 6 p.m., and men’s at approximately 8 p.m. On Thursday, the women and men both take on conference rival St. Mary’s. During half-time of the men’s game, Student Activities will sponsor a cash crawl, where bills are scattered in center court and a blindfolded contestant gathers as much as possible in 30 seconds. For only $1, those attending the game can purchase three chances for the opportunity to be the lucky participant. OPSU students will receive one free ticket and are eligible to purchase more chances.

On Saturday, Aggie Basketball Homecoming will be celebrated with the final home games of the season scheduled against Incarnate Word. During the women’s game, sheets of paper will be handed out so everyone can have the opportunity to craft an airplane that will sail into the winner’s circle on the court during the half-time of that first game. The winner receives bragging rights and $25 cash. Between games, the senior basketball players will be honored as well as Coach Curt Connor, who will retire from coaching basketball at the end of the season. Stick around for the men’s action, and discover who will be crowned 2007 Homecoming King and Queen.

Also on February 24, OPSU hosts Senior Day for area students who will graduate in May. Registration begins at 3 p.m. in Hughes-Strong Auditorium, and students will learn what their rapidly-growing, local university has to offer including degree plans, campus amenities, and financial aid available such as scholarships. All attendees automatically receive a $300 one-time scholarship, and one lucky winner will receive full year tuition waiver to OPSU. In addition, participants receive OPSU gear, free admission to the homecoming basketball games, and supper provided at the concession stand. To register, call 580-349-2611 and ask for High School Relations, or toll free at 1-800-664-OPSU (6778).
