Alma Folklorica Celebrates Five Years

Goodwell, Okla. - Smiling dancers in colorful costumes
will once again grace the stage in Hughes-Strong Auditorium
on Sunday, April 9. The Alma Folklorica dancers will be
performing free for the public on the campus of Oklahoma
Panhandle State University. A reception will begin at 2
p.m. for current and former dancers, families and friends,
and is sponsored by the City of Guymon, Guymon Public Schools,
and OPSU. The free dance performance is scheduled for 3
p.m., and the reception will resume after the performance.
The dancers are celebrating their fifth anniversary and
also their success at a recent competition in Lubbock,
Texas.
The group, composed 20 Guymon High School students, competed
in the advanced level in Lubbock against professional groups.
Alma Folklorica brought home trophies for Best Costumes
and Best Technique and Form. The five-year-old group enjoys
competing and provides entertainment all over the area.
Plan to meet the dancers, enjoy refreshments and be entertained
by this award-winning team this Sunday afternoon.
