Goodwell, OK - Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education General Counsel Bob Anthony must have learned tact and diplomacy as a youngster. He completed his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State, and received his law degree from Oklahoma University. He deflects questions about his loyalty between the rival schools with poise, and if he is partial, it is only to the State of Oklahoma.
That aplomb has certainly served him well. Before landing his current position, he lived in Mexico where he served the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Service Officer, working for Ambassador Jim Jones, a former Congressman from Oklahoma. Following the Mexico stint, the Anthony family was posted to New Zealand, then decided to move back to Oklahoma where Mr. Anthony was Assistant Attorney General for the state. He began his role as general counsel for the state regents in January of this year.
Anthony has been wending his way through Oklahoma, visiting campuses and familiarizing himself with each school's individual programs. He said, "I see great potential for growth in regional universities such as OPSU. We'll see a significant increase in enrollment and much of that will be in regional universities. I'm learning that they all serve a unique role. They all have good relationships in their community, and I believe that's due to the presidents and their administrators." |
