**For Immediate Release**
Silent Auction Planned to Benefit OPSU Staff Scholarship
-released by OPSU Campus Communications 01-13-2006
Goodwell - A silent auction will
be held on January 21, 2006 to benefit the OPSU Staff
Scholarship fund. This event will be held during the
Aggie and Lady Aggie home basketball games, which begin
at 6:00 p.m. in Oscar Williams Field House. Plan to come
out and support OPSU and bid on items such as gift certificates
for food and services at local businesses. The winning
bids will be announced at half time of the men’s
game, which begins at 8:00 p.m.
The OPSU Staff Liaison Committee
is holding this event in order to one day fund an endowed
scholarship that would directly benefit OPSU staff members,
their spouses, or their children. It is the first step
in reaching the committee’s
goal of endowing this scholarship so that it may be given
every year and increased by future donations.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the staff member must
have been employed by OPSU at least one year. Applicants
must also be seeking a degree, enrolled in at least 6 credit
hours, and maintain a 2.0 GPA. The scholarship is renewable
each year in competition with other applicants with preference
given to a staff member.
Any business or individual that wishes to donate an item
for the auction may do so by contacting Tere Curtis at
580-349-1360. Cash donations may also be sent to Panhandle
State Foundation, c/o Staff Scholarship, PO Box 430, Goodwell,
OK 73939. The foundation also accepts memorial donations.
The foundation notifies the family that you have made a
donation in memory of their loved one.
OPSU basketball provides great family entertainment, and
we hope to see you at the games and appreciate your participation
in the silent auction on Saturday, January 21.
