Frank Lucas to Speak at OPSU Commencement

Frank Lucas will deliver the commencement address at Oklahoma
Panhandle State University’s
2006 graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. in
Oscar Williams Fieldhouse on the OPSU campus.
Lucas is currently serving his sixth
full term in the U.S. Congress and represents Oklahoma’s
Third Congressional District, which includes all or portions
of 32 counties in northern and western Oklahoma. He serves
on the Agriculture Committee, the Financial Services Committee,
and the Science Committee, and is the Chairman of the Agriculture
Subcommittee on Conservation, Credit Rural Development, and
Research.
Lucas is dedicated to American farmers, and during his tenure
in Congress has received numerous awards from various agriculture
groups for his pro-agriculture actions. In addition to serving
as Chairman of an agriculture subcommittee, he serves on the
House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities
and Risk Management as well as three Financial Services subcommittees
and two Science Subcommittees.
Lucas, a fifth generation Oklahoman, graduated from Oklahoma
State University with a degree in Agriculture Economics in
1982. He divides his time between Washington and a farm and
cattle ranch in Roger Mills County that he and his wife Lynda
operate. Prior to his service is the U.S. Congress, Lucas served
in the Oklahoma State House of Representatives for more than
five years.
OPSU is honored to have Rep. Frank Lucas
speak to this year’s
graduates as they begin professional careers or continue their
education. Immediately following the commencement ceremony,
the President’s office will host the annual free barbecue
lunch on the Plaza for this year’s graduates, their families
and friends, and all others in attendance.
