Ceremony Draws Crowd

by Laura Hays Goodwell, Okla. — The weather did little to deter the crowd that attended the Oklahoma Panhandle State University golf course re-dedication ceremony on Monday.
Prior to the ribbon cutting, well over 100 students and citizens enjoyed hamburgers and bratwurst freshly grilled by Dr. Pete Camfield, Daren Stephens, and Dr. John Townsend. The Ambassadors of the Guymon Chamber of Commerce were on hand to celebrate and provided the ribbon to commemorate the event while Jim Smith of KGYN broadcast the ceremony live.
Golfers signed up teams for the 4-person scramble. Three teams tied for first place and entered a sudden death, closest-to-the-pin competition. The victorious team included Jason Kueffler, Jerry Olson, Scott Hilton and Jack Strain who won one-year memberships to the OPSU course in addition to merchandise donated by PTCI and OPSU departments including Student Senate, Athletics and High School and Community Relations.
The nine-hole, par-three course underwent a major renovation last winter, and the greens, fairways, and tee boxes have been maintained in excellent condition. Bring family and friends and play OPSU!
