**For Immediate Release**
OPSU Open for Business in Guymon
-released by OPSU Campus Communications 05/24/06
by Scott Puryear
Goodwell, Okla.-- The OPSU Guymon Classroom is now open
for business, with computers ready for student use and
instructors eager for classes to begin.
Oklahoma Panhandle State University President Dave Bryant
unveiled the facility, located at Fifth and Roosevelt,
to local dignitaries and Guymon residents at a grand opening
reception last Monday, May 15.
The Guymon Classroom will provide working adults with
the opportunity to learn practical skills they can apply
to their professional and personal lives. With non-credit
courses offered right in Guymon, students will have a convenient
way to learn more about computers, professional communication
skills, and other useful topics. The courses are not as
concentrated as those that degree-seeking students complete
and are geared specifically toward the needs of busy adults.
Non-credit classes offered this summer include Computers
for Beginners, Microsoft Office and Spanish for Business.
In addition, OPSU will also offer some credit courses
at the Guymon Classroom, giving commuting students and
high school juniors and seniors who wish to take college
courses concurrently an opportunity to attend classes closer
to home. Math for Critical Thinking and Freshman English
I, both 3-hour credit courses, will be offered in Guymon
during the summer session.
The OPSU Guymon Classroom is available
thanks to the work of the Education Committee of the
Guymon Chamber of Commerce. Committee members include
committee chair Bryant, Dr. Wayne Manning, Larry Peters,
Consuelo Luera, Dr. Pauline Hodges, Teri Mora, Dave O’Sullivan,
Ron Strecker, Dale Lewis, Bob Johnson and Mike Shannon.
Come check out what OPSU has to offer in the Guymon Classroom
this summer, and keep looking for more exciting things
to come. OPSU has a full slate of credit and non-credit
courses planned for the 2006-2007 school year!
For more information or to enroll in a
