-released by OPSU Campus Communications 03-10-2006
Goodwell,
Okla. - Oklahoma
Panhandle State University alumni Alex and Mandy (Kidwell)
Gregory are two of many art department graduates who
are completing or have completed graduate degrees. Both
graduated from OPSU in May of 2003 with Bachelor of Fine
Arts degrees in studio art, then attended West Texas
A&M University in Canyon where
both finished Master of Arts degrees last May.
Currently, the Gregorys are in their last semester at
WTAMU, fulfilling the requirements for Master of Fine Arts
degrees in studio art which is the highest degree granted
in that field. As they anticipate graduating this May,
both have upcoming art exhibits in Canyon, and the couple
extends an invitation to anyone interested to attend the
shows and following receptions.
Alex’s exhibition, entitled “One Thing Leads
to Another,” is set for March 20-31 in the Mary Moody
Northen Hall in the formal gallery on the WTAMU campus.
In addition, a reception for the artist will be held in
the gallery on Friday, March 24 from 6-8:00 p.m. His display
will include sculptural ceramics and oil paintings.
Mandy will display her
work in the same gallery from April 3-14, and her reception
is scheduled for Friday, April 7 from 6-8:00 p.m. Mandy’s exhibition, “Prints
on Clay,” will display her technique for combining
printmaking and clay to create images on her vessels.
Alex and Mandy plan
to search for university teaching positions,
but hope to stay in the area near their families. They
would eventually like to own a studio and gallery and
teach lessons. Mandy said, “OPSU’s
art degree allowed Alex and me to pursue our love of art
and expand our knowledge. We hope to see many of our OPSU
friends at our exhibitions to show what OPSU graduates
can accomplish!”
