Celebrate New Beginnings with OPSU

Goodwell, Okla. — Oklahoma
Panhandle State University invites everyone to attend
the grand opening of their new Guymon Classroom on Monday,
May 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the new OPSU learning facility
located on the corner of Fifth and Roosevelt. At the
same time, OPSU will welcome its newest employee, Consuelo
Luera, who will be assuming her duties as Director of
Adult and Continuing Education.
Part of Luera’s responsibilities include overseeing
the new facility. The main classroom includes 18 computer
stations with high speed internet access, and two smaller
classrooms will be used for courses that do not require
computer usage. Non-credit courses offered this summer
include Computers for Beginners, Microsoft Office, and
Spanish for Business. Students who successfully finish
these classes receive a Certificate of Completion. Guymon
Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year, Dave O’Sullivan,
will instruct the two computer courses and OPSU’s
Director of Hispanic Student Services, Teri Mora, will

Credit courses will also be offered this summer. During
the six-week summer session, Debbie Colson will teach Freshman
English I and Jana Peterson will instruct Math for Critical
Thinking. Students earn three credit hours for each course.
