OPSU Flair at the Guymon Christmas Parade

Goodwell, Okla. — Last Saturday evening the annual Guymon Christmas Parade took place, and as always, there was a definite Oklahoma Panhandle State flair. Sub-freezing temperatures did not ruin the fun.
Over 40 members of the OPSU rodeo team participated, some on their trusty horses while others rode on a float. Rodeo coach Craig Latham and his wife, Lori, were also there and the appearance of the team which boasts four national championships in the past 10 years, is always one of the big hits of the event.
The OPSU women’s basketball team, undaunted after spending two days stranded in Tulsa due to the weather, also participated along with their coaches Jerry Olson and Stacy Nordquist. It was a bit cold to be in their uniforms, but the team enjoyed their trip along Main Street by means of a truck.
A talented group representing both OPSU and the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC) rode on a fine float as they entertained onlookers with Christmas carols.
Float judges were Dr. Dave Bryant (OPSU President), Dr. Sara Jane Richter (Dean, Liberal Arts), and Annie Puryear (wife to Scott Puryear, Business Instructor/Sports Information Director).
Charles White (OPSU graduate and Main Street Guymon Director) was the Parade Coordinator and Scott Puryear was the Master of Ceremonies.
Members of OPSU teams, organizations, faculty, and staff are always ready and willing to participate in civic events within the school’s service area . . . even when it’s a little bit cold.
