OPSU Grad Olson Continues to Excel

Goodwell, Okla. — Derek Olson was
one of the best student athletes ever to compete for Oklahoma
Panhandle State University, and he has continued that excellence
in his career working as a bank examiner for the State of
Kansas.
After an outstanding career at Dodge
City Community College, the 6’2, 280-pound Olson joined
the Aggies in 2002. In his two years in an OPSU uniform the
Jetmore, Kansas, native was named to the All-Independent
Football Alliance (IFA) team twice as a center, as well as
earning Academic All-IFA honors.
One of the most well-liked people on
the OPSU campus, Olson received his degree in Business in
2004 and was named the school’s
Male Student Athlete of the Year for 2003-2004. After spending
the 2004 season as a line coach for the Aggies, Olson took
his present position as a Kansas state employee.
Now living in Overland Park, Olson still maintains close ties
with many friends, teachers, and former teammates, and expects
to see many of them when he is in attendance at Aggie football
games this fall.
