Goodwell, Okla. — Last Friday, the annual Golden Senior Olympics were held in Guymon at the Texas County Activity Center. It was the fourth consecutive year for the event, in which residents of care center facilities from five states participate in several competitive events.
As always, student athletes from Oklahoma Panhandle State University were on hand to assist the staff of Guymon’s Dunaway Manor, the host for the Golden Senior Olympics. Events included bean bag tossing, volleyball, walking and wheelchair races, and a talent competition.
Verna Clenney, the Dunaway Activities Director said, “We are always grateful and glad to have Oklahoma Panhandle State helping us with this event. They do a really great job and they help to make the day fun for all the participants.”
Student athletes from OPSU who assisted Clenney were women’s basketball players Ro Wilson, Jenna Creamer, and Nina Kuleff. Also helping the participants in the events were members of the men’s basketball team, including Luke Ogden, Oscar Castillo and Will Stephenson.
Scott Puryear of OPSU was the Master of Ceremonies, and each and every one of the over 80 participants in the Golden Senior Olympics have something in common . . . ALL OF THEM ARE WINNERS.
Oklahoma Panhandle State University is proud to be a part of this excellent program.
