**For Immediate Release** Silent Auction Funds Education - released by OPSU Campus Communications 03-07-2008 Submitted by Christi Hale Goodwell, Okla. -- During the final home basketball games on February 23, the OPSU Staff Liaison Committee held their third annual silent auction in the gym. The auction raised $2,350 towards the Staff Scholarship, which is primarily aimed at helping OPSU employees further their education. The group hopes to raise approximately $2,500 next to fully endow the scholarship, and will then be worth $500 per year. This year, over 100 items from 63 individuals and businesses went up for bid. Top-selling items included a basketball autographed by the men’s basketball team, a horsehair vessel vase created by Brent Shoulders, and a signed, framed photograph of the OPSU rodeo team. Currently, the scholarship is worth $250 per year, and two OPSU employees have benefited. Last year’s recipient was Florence Hensley, the Health Clinic Nurse, and this year it went to Maggie Cline, Secretary to the Dean of Education. ###
