-released by OPSU Campus Communications 04-18-2006
Goodwell,
Okla. -- Oklahoma Panhandle State University
seniors Shawn Barbaree and Catherine L. Whyman will exhibit
their artwork on April 21-23 from 3-6 p.m. each day in
the Noble Conference Room on the OPSU campus. In addition,
on April 21 at 3:30, both artists will host a reception
with hors d'oeuvres and will also speak about the works
on display. The exhibition is free and the public is invited
to attend.
Barbaree’s show, entitled “Various Juggling
Mishaps,” includes hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramics,
watercolor, pastel painting, and computer-generated graphics.
Barbaree said, “After several years of career, lifestyle,
and mood changes, I’m ready to present my outlook
on art.” His unconventional look at the world manifests
itself in his artwork in a wide variety of color themes
and techniques.
Whyman will exhibit an evolutionary
representation of her work including graphite drawings,
sculpture, mixed media/found art, plus two- and three-dimensional
computer graphics. Her show is entitled “Con-nect-ed” and
incorporates personal elements created under the signatures “Catherine,” “Cat,” and “Gato.”
Both artists graduate in May with Bachelors of Fine Arts
degrees with an emphasis in computer graphics.
