-released by OPSU Campus Communications 05-02-05

The final Central Plains Region rodeo wrapped up Sunday at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, and after the season’s points were tallied, Oklahoma Panhandle State University men’s team was named the Central Plains Region first place team. OPSU will take a six-member men’s team to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming this June. OPSU also claims five first place individual titles in the Central Plains Region including Travis Sharp in bareback riding, Erica Brown in breakaway roping, Buster Holland in steer wrestling, and Trell Etbauer in saddle bronc riding plus the men’s All-Around title. Other OPSU qualifiers include Etbauer in steer wrestling, Matt Hebbert in saddle bronc riding, Cal Peterson in bull riding, and Stacey Watland in goat tying. In the SEOSU rodeo this weekend, the men brought home second place, and Trell Etbauer won the men’s All-Around.
