Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State baseball team has begun their season with a 3-1 record and two players have been honored by the Heartland Conference.
Each week, the league honors a hitter and a pitcher for performances in the previous week, and Kyle Cremers has been recognized for his pitching and Josh Garcia for his work with the bat.
Garcia was a one man wrecking crew for the Aggies last week, starting all four games at second base and collecting nine hits in 13 at-bats for a .692 average. Included in his totals were two doubles, two homers, nine RBIs, 17 total bases, and a slugging percentage of 1.308. He also struck out just once, earned an on-base percentage of .765, stole a base and played errorless ball.
In Cremers’ only start of the week, an 8-4 win over Northwestern Oklahoma, the junior pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits and two earned runs. The right hander struck out four and the only extra base hit he gave up was a double.
Garcia is a freshman from Nixon, Texas and Cremers is a junior from Ponca City, Oklahoma.
