Goodwell, Okla. -- If you remember Terry Layton, one of OPSU’s most successful coaches, plan now to join the former OPSU men’s basketball coach and many of his Aggie team members for a 25th Anniversary celebration. In 1983, Layton led his team to the NAIA playoffs, making it to the second round. About his amazing 33-5 record that year, Layton said, “We played only 10 home games that year and won more road games than any team that year except the (NBA) ‘76ers.”
Six of the team members have already committed to return to Goodwell for this event, and many more are expected to join the celebration. The team featured outstanding players such as Bernard Hill and Keith Williams, who were both drafted by the National Basketball Association.
Current Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jerry Olson is preparing several events for friends, players, and fans to have the opportunity to reminisce and reconnect including a reception in the Noble Activity Center following the men’s game on February 23.
Layton continued basketball projects over all over the world following that one season including coaching professional American and international teams, scouting for the NBA, and leading clinics. If you would like more information about Coach Layton’s visit at OPSU, telephone Olson at 580-349-1344 or contact him via email at email@example.com.
