Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State men’s basketball team was in Wichita Falls, Texas on Monday to face the Mustangs of Midwestern State University. It was the fifth consecutive road game for the Aggies, and a good Mustang team earned the 89-73 victory.
It was a non-conference game that was tied 4-4 in the early going before the Mustangs went on a 13-4 run to eventually open a 42-32 halftime lead.
Midwestern State, now 10-3, is a very tough team from the Lone Star Conference and they have a serious eye on postseason play. The Mustangs led by as many as 21 points in the second half, but the Aggies continued to scrap until the end.
With the loss, the Aggies fell to 2-11 on the season. OPSU’s LaChawn Anderson scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds while E. J. Ollison scored 16 and Luke Ogden had 11. Fred Durr and Will Stephenson each scored nine and pulled down seven and six rebounds, respectively.
The Aggies will be back in their own gym on Friday evening to begin a three game home stand. On both Friday and Saturday they’ll face Montana State-Billings, currently leading the Heartland Conference with a 2-0 record in league play. On Monday, they will face conference rival Lincoln University.
