Aggies Muscle Their Way to 63-54 Win
by Scott Puryear of Aggie Sports on 02-10-06
Goodwell, OK - On Thursday,
night the Oklahoma Panhandle State men’s basketball
team visited the University of the Incarnate Word in San
Antonio, Texas. With great determination, the Aggies made
a strong move in the second half and came up with a 63-54
victory, their seventh of the season.
The Aggies held a slim 32-30 lead at the intermission. Both
teams came back to the floor and went after each other in the
second half. It was intensely close, but the Aggies out muscled
their opponents for the win. Rebounds were key for OPSU, with
the Aggies out rebounding UIW 33-24.
OPSU’s Aaron Harrison led all scorers with 19 points
and pulled down eight rebounds. Nick Malinowski scored 11
and had a game high nine boards. Also scoring in double figures
for the Aggies were William Preston with 15 and Eddie Moss
with 14.
The Aggies shot 50 percent from the field
for the game, and raised their season record to 7-16. They
are now 4-4 in the Heartland Conference and are still in
contention for a playoff spot in the conference’s postseason tournament. They’ll
stay in San Antonio for a game with another tough conference
opponent, St. Mary’s University, on Saturday night.
