OPSU Basketball Adds Another Great Recruit
by Aggie Sports on 06/07/05
Goodwell, OK – Oklahoma Panhandle State men’s basketball has scored another slam dunk with the recent commitment of Jeff Triplett, a 6’4 forward from Morton College (Cicero, Illinois), who will be joining the Aggies for the 2005-2006 season. Last season, Triplett led Morton to the National Junior College Athletic Association (Division II) National Tournament. It was Morton’s first trip to nationals in the 48-year history of the school.
Triplett’s career averages are 16 points and nine rebounds per game, and he was his team’s most valuable player, as well as the Region IV Most Valuable Player.
A first team Chicago Skyway Conference performer, Triplett’s career highs at Morton were 38 points and 21 boards. The 215-pounder had 34 “double-doubles” in his JUCO career.
In the recruitment of Triplett, Connor set out to fill the void created by the graduation of the excellent Jecorey Leggins (a 6’4 All-Conference performer and four year starter who graduated last month). “Success in recruiting sometimes boils down to finding almost the exact player that had tremendous success for you,” Connor said.
Connor, set to begin his second year in the fall, added, “Jeff reminded me 100% of Jecorey Leggins, and more. He is a powerful forward/center that can play two positions and finish in a variety of ways. I expect great things from him.”
It might be cold outside next winter, but it looks like it will be plenty warm in the OPSU gym with Connor and Company.
