Midwestern State Hands Aggies First Loss

Goodwell, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies tangled with a very tough opponent from the Lone Star Conference in the OPSU gym on Thursday night – Midwestern State. The contest matched a pair of very athletic teams, even acrobatic at times, and the Mustangs picked up the win, 82-63.
It was a rough and tumble game from the outset with a total of eight different players standing 6’7 or more going at it. Also, OPSU’s excellent guard, E.J. Ollison, matched up quite well with Midwestern’s fine front court player, Drew Coffman.
Though the Aggies fought hard, Midwestern hit six three pointers in the first half, compared to one for OPSU, and the visiting team took a 44-30 halftime advantage.
The second half was just as physical, and each time OPSU attempted a rally, Midwestern responded. There was not one bit of quit in the Aggies, but at the final buzzer, Midwestern State went home with an 82-63 victory.
Sophomore forward Luke Ogden led the Aggies in scoring with 14 points while Scott Hilton and Ollison each chipped in nine. Will Stephenson led OPSU in rebounding with nine.
The Aggies (now 1-1) will be back in action on their home court next Tuesday against Cameron University.
