Midwestern Tops Aggies 76-66

Goodwell, OK- The Oklahoma
Panhandle State Aggies traveled to Wichita Falls, Texas for
a Thursday night game with a tough team from the Lone Star
Conference – Midwestern
State. Though the Aggies led at the half (38-37), Midwestern
pulled away in the second half and won, 76-66.
The Aggies came out very fast to start the game and played
exceptionally well in the first half, shooting 58% from the
field. With 4:07 left in the opening period, OPSU junior guard
Kyle Smith hit a short jumper to give the Aggies a 13-point
lead (36-23), but Midwestern came back strongly to trim the
OPSU margin to 38-37 at the intermission.
For most of the second half, it was anyone’s
game and with 7:17 to play, the Aggies trailed 59-56. Midwestern
finished strongly and pulled out the 76-66 victory, raising
their record to 5-2.
OPSU’s fine senior forward, Nick
Malinowski, led the Aggies with 17 points and a game high
11 rebounds. Teammates Juan Carson and Eddie Moss scored
12 and nine respectively.
Midwestern’s Eric Dawson led all
scorers with 26 points.
The Aggies (0-8) will head to Portales, New Mexico for a Saturday
night game with Eastern New Mexico.
