Goodwell, OK- The Oklahoma Panhandle State men’s basketball
team lost to Eastern New Mexico, 69-53, in Portales on Saturday
night.
The Aggies led briefly during the first half, but ENM pulled
out to a 34-25 lead at the halftime break. OPSU fought gamely
to get back into it in the second half but could not get any
closer than the nine point deficit.
The Aggies hit on only one less field goal (23-22) than did
ENM, but the major differences came at the free throw line
(the Aggies were outscored 18-4) and in rebounds, where ENM
held a 38-25 advantage.
Nick Malinowski led the Aggies with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Teammate William Preston added 11, and Juan Carson and Eddie
Moss each hit nine.
The Aggies (0-9) will be taking their
semester tests this week and won’t play until Saturday night when they travel
to Canyon and play against West Texas A&M.
