Goodwell, OK - The Oklahoma
Panhandle State – West
Texas A&M men’s basketball rivalry has been
a great one over the last few years, and the fans in attendance
on Saturday night in Canyon got their money’s worth.
The game was a dead heat at 62-62 with less than a minute
to play, but WT managed to pull out a 69-64 win.
The Aggies chose their shots well and averaged over 50% in
each half. Though they trailed at the intermission (33-20),
they meant business after the break and went on a game 12-4
run, and with four minutes left, trailed by only five points
at 55-50.
In a one minute span, the Aggies scored seven unanswered points
capped by an Eddie Moss slam dunk that tied the game at 62
each with 29 seconds to play. However, WT again took control
and the 69-64 win upped their season record to 8-2.
Nick Malinowski led the Aggies with 18 points and Moss added
a dozen. Quick OPSU guard Kyle Smith added 11.
Post-game, OPSU coach Curt Connor was disappointed in the
loss, but not in the effort of the young men on his team.
The Aggies (0-10) will get a well deserved
rest over Christmas and won’t be back in action until
December 30th when they face Eastern New Mexico on the OPSU
campus.
