Goodwell, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State women’s basketball team picked up a second home court win in as many nights with a 49-32 victory over Johnson & Wales University. The Lady Aggies opened the game with a strong 15-0 run and were in control for the entire contest.

It was not a high scoring game, and the defense of the Lady Aggies told the tale. OPSU outrebounded the Wildcats (49-28) and had 12 steals comparedto six by the visitors. The Lady Aggies had 11 turnovers, but forced 22.

OPSU led 25-14 at the end of the first half. “Double Double Jasmine” is a nickname that might stick for Lady Aggie center Jasmine Williams. The senior picked up her fifth one of the season on Friday with a 13 point, 14 rebound performance.

OPSU’s Sarah Polson netted ten points, pulled down eight rebounds and came up with three steals. Senior Connie Maas also came up with her second consecutive 11 rebound performance, while adding two points and three steals. Yadira Ortega scored seven and Alisha Sladek scored five and had three steals. Megan Hamilton earned six key rebounds to go along with three points.

Nine Lady Aggies scored in the game as OPSU upped their season record to 9-8.

OPSU currently stands in third place in the Heartland Conference with a 3-2 mark. Of their final ten regular season games, nine are against league opponents. St. Mary’s currently ranks first at 5-0 with the University of the Incarnate Word in second at 4-1.

The Lady Aggies’ next action is set for Thursday in Austin, Texas against St. Edwards, currently tied for fourth in the conference at 2-2.
