Lady
Aggies Lose a Tough Game in Laredo, 60-58
by Scott Puryear of Aggie Sports on 2/9/07
Goodwell,
Okla.
- It was just about as close as it could get for an entire
40 minutes of women’s college basketball in Laredo
on Thursday as Oklahoma Panhandle State tangled with Texas
A&M International. The Lady Aggies tried valiantly for
victory, but several shots in the closing minutes just would
not drop and the home team earned a narrow 60-58 victory.
Both
teams worked hard for a win and TA&MI held just a 30-29
advantage at the end of the first half. In the end, both
teams duplicated their respective first half point outputs
and the home team gained their ninth win of the season by
just two points.
Sedra
Watkins, a 5’9 senior from Amarillo, led OPSU in scoring
with 13. Yadira Ortega and Megan Hamilton each scored nine.
Ortega, a hard working freshman from Stratford, Texas led
the Lady Aggies in rebounding with seven.
Nina
Kuleff and Sara Polson each scored seven for OPSU.
The
Lady Aggies (7-15) will be in Austin on Saturday night for
a match-up with Heartland Conference rival St. Edward’s
(6-14). Tip-off is set for 6:00.
