OPSU’s Williams Earns Two Huge Conference Honors

Goodwell, Okla. -- Jasmine Williams, the outstanding forward on the Oklahoma Panhandle State University women’s basketball team, has earned two very important honors from the Heartland Conference. She has been named to the All-Heartland First Team and was also honored as the league’s Newcomer of the Year.
Other players named to the All-Heartland First Team were Natalie Gamez (Guard/St. Mary’s), Nia Torru (Guard/Incarnate Word), Kim Robinson (Guard/Incarnate Word), and Sara Head (Center/St. Edward’s).
The 6’1 Williams established herself as one of the league’s strongest inside players, winning the Heartland rebounding title with 8.8 boards per game. Three times named the conference Player of the Week, she finished fourth in scoring with a 14.7 average and had 19 “Double-Doubles” (scoring/rebounding) in 27 regular season games.
OPSU guard Sarah Polson was named All-Heartland Honorable Mention. Polson is a 5’9 senior guard from Hennessey, Oklahoma.
