Another Top Recruit Joins Lady Aggie Basketball
-by Aggie Sports 07/20/06
Goodwell, Okla. — Five points . . . that’s all
that stood between last season’s Oklahoma Panhandle State
women’s basketball team and the NCAA Tournament. Though
the Lady Aggies lost to St. Mary’s 69-64 in the conference
title game that would have sent them to the “Division
II Big Show” – they left the court with their heads
held high and the players and coaches set out for another shot
at it in the 2006-07 season.
With several top players returning, head coach
Jerry Olson and his assistant Brad Vanden Boogaard are set
to begin their third season late this fall, and things are
again looking good for Lady Aggie basketball.
One of the commitments from a top recruit comes
from Sarah Polson, a native of Hennessey, Oklahoma who played
last year at Allen Community College in Iola, Kansas. Polson
agreed to be a Lady Aggie in April and was on campus this
week getting registered for fall classes.
Polson is a 5’7 shooting guard who led
her team in three point scoring last season, helping the team
qualify for the regional tournament. A good student, she plans
on majoring in psychology at OPSU.
Polson said she is impressed with what she
has seen at OPSU and looks forward to playing “Jerry
Olson-Style Basketball.”
The Lady Aggies finished with a 15-14 record
last season and their run at the league title (winning nine
of their last 13 games) was very exciting.
Look for more success with LADY AGGIE BASKETBALL.
