New Mexico Highlands Nips Lady Aggies 54-51

Goodwell, OK- Oklahoma Panhandle State women’s basketball coach Jerry Olson was to the point in his comments after the Lady Aggies lost at New Mexico Highlands (54-51) on Tuesday night. “They wanted to win more than we did,” the veteran coach said.

The Lady Aggies appeared to have things well in hand as they jumped out to a 27-14 lead at half-time. However, a furious NMH second half rally put the Lady Aggies behind (48-46) with just over three minutes left in the game.

NMH had a 52-51 lead with just over a minute left, and though both teams had a chance for a final minute victory, NMH pulled out the win.

Olson added that he felt the OPSU effort down the stretch was pathetic.
Brandi Lewis and Michelle Kennedy each had 11 points for the Lady Aggies, and Taneisha Rogers had ten. Kennedy also had nine rebounds.

OPSU will be back on their home court on Saturday evening against Newman. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
